      Great question jessfiest1,

My work is very important to me. … If it wasn’t I wouldn’t do it. Although I get paid to do research I also think it’s very important that I have a job I enjoy. I chose to do the research I’m doing because I wanted to do something useful, and something that would make a difference. I always want to have a job where I enjoy going to work and where I can benifit others, the environment or both.

I think it’s good to have a job you’re both good at and enjoy, and I’m very lucky that as a scientist I can be good at my work and enjoy doing it.

I hope my research is able to make a difference and can help us ensure we have clean water.

What do you enjoy doing? Do you know what you want to do when you finish school?

      Hi Jess!

My work is very important to me. All I’ve ever wanted to do is something that will make a difference to the world. I get to research cars that could one day run off water. This means we wouldn’t need to keep pumping nasty chemicals into the atmosphere, harming the environment. This means my work gives me the chance to do something I’ve been aiming to do for a very long time. Not many people get that chance.

I’m very lucky I not only get to do something I’ve always wanted, but that I also really enjoy it. Sure there are good and bad days, just like any job. What drags me out of bed in the mornings on those bad days (when I would rather snooze for an extra hour or so) is knowing that my research will make a difference, no matter how small. Even if it doesn’t work, my research still gets us that little bit closer to finding the right answer.
