      Hi guys!

I was inspired to go into science by my Year 10 science teacher, but at that point I was more interested in space and studying the Universe. When I went to college I started to learn more about the problems the world was facing, in particular global warming.

There was not really one person that inspired me. It was more I’d hear about these things happening everyday and I really wanted to do something to about it. That’s what I wanted to do when I first started University.

By the end of University I still really cared about the planet and preventing global warming, so I decided to research something that could help stop it. Since starting my PhD it’s only made me even more determined to help find a solution. This is not just important for everyone on the Earth now, but also for everyone who will live hundreds or even thousands of years in the future.

Great question. To be honest I’m not really sure who inspired me. ….a variety of people I think. I had a great chemistry teacher at school so that helped, and I was good at it. My dad has always been supportive of me becoming a scientist even though he doesn’t know much about science himself. I guess growing up I was always asking why about everything and trying to figure out how things worked so being a scientist I’ve continued that but just made it my full time job!

I keep doing it because I know there are so many things we need to find solutions to and I want to be part of this 🙂

Do you enjoy science? Do you like to find out answers to things you don’t know?
