      Great question…..no one really knows as the term ‘scientist’ is a relatively new concept in the timescale of the earth. Since the beginning of life on earth there have been scientists trying to find out how things work.

      Hi!

      That’s an interesting question. The word scientist is actually pretty new, it was first used about 200 years ago.

      I would say a scientist is anyone who follows the scientific method. So they use experiments and observation to study the world around them.

      If you go by this then the first scientists to me were those that realised by hitting two stones together they could create sparks. They then realised if you put wood or moss there as well then you could make a fire.
